I basically run Helms Deep, from the shower.

Hello! my name is nina. i like co-ops because i believe everyone should have access to affordable housing, community, and tasty food. i have three jobs, i am a fundraiser for friends of art, I am a research assistant to a labor studies professor and I waitress. i am very organized. i love to hear stories read aloud, dance, cook squash, eat meat, spend time with my family & fight for some good ole justice. i tend to see things in extremes.
“If a chap cannot compose an epic poem while he is weaving a tapestry, he had better shut up.”—William Morris
I see in technicolor. I see richly. I currently teach Fundamental Drawing at Indiana University. I am interested in liberatory pedagogy, electronic music, working things out, working together, climbing things, questioning my own assumptions, telling to and listening to stories. I live with 13 other co-opers and a handsome little cat named Machine Gun. I am exploring using the classroom space as one in which to open students’ concept of what is possible, and to provide a space for free exploration of ideas. Seeing and therefore visual art-making is a call to wonder. Incidentally, I am the current membership coordinator for BCL.

I am an ecologist, a naturalist, and an aspiring farmer / gardener. I’ve been with the coop since it was just a gleam in Emilie Cheney’s eye, and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I hope that by living and growing together we can learn to bring more love and respect into our interactions with other people and the living world.
Hello! My name is Kaitlin and I love running and atmospheres which build teams and dreams like summer camps, sports teams, and co-ops. Some of my very favorite things are being outside, the first day it feels like a new season, fields full of lightning bugs, rock climbing, playing Chopin nocturnes, adventures of all kinds, picnics, trampolines, and dance parties. I want to teach English in other countries, coach a cross-country team, lead outdoor trips, see the northern lights, travel, and someday help immigrants achieve their dreams here. Co-opers inspire me.
Hi! I’m Mel. This is my first time to live in a co-op, and I love it more than I could have imagined. I really value individuality, resourcefulness, and community. I study food. I worry a lot. I have an insane sweet tooth. I currently make ice cream for a living, but not for long. I’m moving on to bigger, better things. I have no idea what the future will bring, but I am so excited to find out. My favorite animal is a horse. My favorite color is brown. I’m not nearly as organized as I want to be. I love doing crafts, hiking, POTLUCKS, road trips, pulled pork, unicorns, growing vegetables, watching movies, and knitting. One day, I am going to get some land, lots of animals (definitely chickens), and a really big garden.
I’m Kate and I live in the co-op because my favorite things in the world are food, friends and Sunday potlucks. I also really like sparkly pink things, extinct Australian mega-fauna, riding my bike, birds, Bloomington, and falling asleep during every movie I start. One day soon I plan to be a biology teacher but for now I am an awesome barrista!
I’m passionate about eating fruit and building community and collecting people who love living. I believe in the inadvisable and the impossible. I like to go on adventures. Walks down the street count as adventures. Folly is an important thing. I like to make things out of littler things: paper, string, nails, lasers, ink, cloth, loose change, lost memories, forgotten scraps, seeds, leaves, twigs. But sometimes I neglect myself. I study how groups of people solve problems together. I also live with a lot of people and we solve problems together.

Woof woof wimper wimper I run so fast! My name is Fry Dog, and my past-times are running up and down the stairs, chewing up unicorns, eating, pooping, and licking myself. I am also fond of long walks on the beach and sunsets. My sign is Taurus.

Hi. At the moment I’m layed-off as food buyer (mismanagement), and haven’t done a whole lot of cooking for weeks. Because of the house’s resilience, it managed to put me in charge of recycling (which needed to be done soon), and I plan to become active as a board member, representing bcl in Bloomington and beyond (Holland, Germany), helping with recruiting interesting folks and in general to enlarge and stabilize this co-op community. I am a member since August 2009, and living here has been very beneficial to me personally.

I’m a scientist (theoretical neuroscience). I’m mostly addicted to three things: music, photography, and biking. I’d like to tell a story, see the world, make art, take photos, change attitudes, share thoughts, make memories, hear good music, drink good coffee, live in the woods, dig my feet in the sand, ride my bike, make an album, write a book, inspire, rebel, revolutionize, make a difference - that’s all. Oh, the co-op has changed my life.
